Xavi Talks About Summer Transfer Demand For Barcelona: Barcelona coach Xavi has urged the club to buy two midfielders in the summer transfer window, one to replace departing captain Sergio Busquets and the other to add depth.
Busquets, along with former Camp Nou teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, is scheduled to join Inter Miami for a new adventure outside of Europe. However, he leaves the club with 15 years of experience and over 720 first-team appearances.
Xavi is seeking to further enhance his midfield after La Liga gold this season and a fresh Champions League crown in 2023/24 after straight group stage exits.

This summer, Barcelona hopes to sign Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer. His contract with Manchester City is set to end this month, and no new agreement has been reached. Bernardo Silva, Gundogan’s City teammate, is also on the market but may cost £75 million. Another target is Martín Zubimendi, to reinforce the pivot positon for the club.
“I don’t have [the] inside game [in midfield].” Sergio Busquets’ leaving is a major issue for me. “Frenkie has stepped up, but I need creative midfielders,” the manager remarked.
“You have to go for a high-level substitute,” he added, referring to the requirement for depth.
“If the club is having financial difficulties, you must prioritize.” The first is a pivot, while the second is a playmaker. We’ll see how far we can get with the remainder.”
There have also been discussions about Joshua Kimmich, who is contemplating his future with Bayern Munich after becoming unsettled. He has two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and might command a large sum as a result.
