World Arm Wrestling Championship: The Ghana Arm Wrestling Federation made an amazing bid presentation during the World Congress in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which gave them the opportunity to host the 45th World Arm-wrestling Championship to be held in 2024.
Delegates unanimously approved Ghana’s proposal after Charles Osei-Asibey, the president of the Ghana Arm-wrestling Federation, presented the bid.
After facing intense competition from Egypt, Ghana will be organizing the tournament for the first time. After hosting the 12th African Arm-Wrestling Tournament in Accra last June with great success, Ghana was chosen to participate in the event.
Confidently proclaiming victory after winning the bid, Mr. Osei-Asibey said that securing the world championship was not only a victory for Ghana but also for the entire African continent because it would open the door for the sport’s expansion and development both within Ghana and throughout the continent.
Ghana’s “It Is Our Time” bid appeal promised to reveal a fusion of excellence at the core of the earth and provide the country the chance to once more materialize and demonstrate its culture, friendliness, and the beauty of its people.
Key participants in the plan, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ghana Investment Promotion Council, and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, all gave it their steadfast support.
Athletes from around the world compete in the World Armwrestling Championship, a prominent sporting event. Almost 2,000 competitors, coaches, officials, and spectators attend the gathering of top Pullers battling for victory.
Hungary, Bulgaria, and Canada will be the focus of the international arm-wrestling community in 2025, 2026, and 2027, respectively. The World Arm-wrestling Federation (WAF) sponsors and manages this annual festival.
