Why celebrate valentine’s day? What makes Valentine’s Day so special? Isn’t it a phony holiday? Isn’t it true that we should demonstrate our affection for one another every day?
Valentine’s Day appears to be the most disliked holiday after tax season, despite the fact that it is intended to be all about love. Whether it’s a single individual who remembers tragedy on this day or a couple who asks “what’s the point?” The day has a reputation for being a downer.
However, this does not negate the fact that Valentine’s Day should be observed. Read more on my perspective on how Val’s day is supposed to be celebrated and what others do during this time of LOVE.
Why is it celebrated
Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine, a Roman saint who lived in the third century. It has become an important cultural, religious, and economic celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world as a result of subsequent folk customs.
What makes it special
Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love. People reveal their sentiments to a love interest and express their admiration for them. By spending love and affection on one other, couples make each other feel special. As a symbol of beauty and love, traditional presents, wishes, and red roses are given to a significant other. Going on romantic dates and candlelight meals are also part of modern-day festivities.
The day is also commemorated in various areas of the world by showing affection for friends and family members. Movie evenings, preparing dinners with friends, and throwing Valentine’s Day parties are all popular ways to spend the day.
Val’s Day Debate
As we mark today as Valentine’s Day, the debate over whether it is a “genuine” or significant holiday resurfaces. Many people believe that Valentine’s Day is just a glorified national dating night especially for most youth in Ghana.
Also, many ladies are of the opinion that, it is a day their boyfriends and ‘sugar daddies’ shower them with gifts. Valentine’s Day, however, is a cornerstone holiday in most parts of the world with a significance that extends well beyond romance when seen in a fresh light.
Apart from costly flowers and heart-shaped chocolates, Valentine’s Day has a lot deeper meaning. Valentine’s Day may be celebrated without a lavish meal, romantic presents, or even a significant other because the genuine celebration is in the admiration of loved ones.
On the other hand, there will always be some who deny that Valentine’s Day is a “legitimate” celebration, and funny enough such people are referred to as ‘broke dudes’. This attitude is often based on the notion that the holiday is just for people who are fortunate enough to be in a romantic relationship at this time of year.
When seen in this light, Valentine’s Day may appear to be a conditional holiday that only serves to make individuals feel lonely if they do not have a significant other ‘Boyfriend/Girlfriend’ with whom to celebrate.
However, this is not the holiday’s aim; it is merely a celebration of love in its purest form. Remember how much fun it was in elementary school when everyone swapped cards and had a good time? That is an idea that no one has outgrown.
Rather, individuals have let the significance of the holiday be determined by how others celebrate it. Do not let unnecessary pressure take a grip on you.
Val’s Day Activities for Couples
Dinner, a picnic, or a special home-cooked meal are popular ways for couples to commemorate Valentine’s Day. Another common Valentine’s Day activity is to book a luxury hotel stay in a picturesque area, which allows a couple to get away from it all and spend quality time together.
Valentine’s Day is also a popular day for marriage proposals, and it is frequently picked as the ideal day to demonstrate their love and devotion. Marriage proposals are sometimes made in unusual ways, such as by hiking to the summit of a mountain or by placing a message on a card. Marriage proposals on Valentine’s Day are often romantic and memorable, regardless of the manner used.
Young Ladies, bailing your man because of Val’s day is way too much. The little love shown to you during this season should not go unappreciated, whether it is a text message or gift card, or even a bottle of champaign, and guys! it is not a season for acting porn.
Don’t worry if you don’t have somebody to go on a date with this Valentine’s Day. Take a pal out to dinner, contact your guardians, or indulge in your favorite relaxing hobby with friends. Valentine’s Day is a day to honor pure, unconditional love, and only your heart should have the power to determine how you celebrate.
