WhatsApp for iOS’s blur tool is finally on android: You might wish to hide sections of photographs you upload on WhatsApp if they include personal information, addresses, or other sensitive information your conversation partner doesn’t need to view.
Of course, there are a variety of methods for accomplishing this, including cropping (if the object you want to hide is towards the boundaries), drawing lines, and even putting stickers and emojis over sensitive areas.
But, until today, the most logical solution has been overlooked. According to new sources, the Android app will have a blur function, and we now know how it will appear.
According to WABetaInfo, the new blur function has been in the works since WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.3.5. However, in beta version 2.22.7.1, they were only able to catch a taste of what it will look like.
The new blur tool will be part of a fully updated drawing editor, according to their report. “It will provide consumers with the best option to erase information from photographs before sharing,” says the company. Simply swipe on the sections you want to blur out, just like you would with the sketching tool, and WhatsApp will pixelate whatever is behind it.

Surprisingly, the option to blur areas of photographs has long been available on WhatsApp for iOS. It’s unclear why it hasn’t been included in the Android version of WhatsApp, but it’s nice to see it finally arrive on Google’s platform. In the same vein as the revamp, the WhatsApp drawing editor will receive two more pencils of varying thicknesses, bringing the total number of pencils to three.
The feature is still in development, and there is no indication of when it could be released. Furthermore, even if you install the beta version, it isn’t completely functioning, so you won’t be able to utilize it correctly. As a result, users who are interested in playing with it will have to wait till it comes in functional order.
