Two Ghanaian students from St. James Seminary: The top two spots in the best student rankings for the 2022 West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSCE) exam have been claimed by two Ghanaian students from St. James Seminary Senior High School.
Alex Opoku Manu and Benjamin Eyram Nana Kwame Degbey respectively beat out Ogidigbo Chioma Blessing from Nigeria who took the third place in the competition.
Despite the fact that this information was disclosed earlier this year, the graduates were presented with their awards at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) 71st Annual Council Meeting, which was held in Gambia.
The students received recognition for their outstanding achievement among the five nations that participated in the exam.
The students’ accomplishment was acknowledged by Ghana Education Service (GES) in a Facebook post.
Dr. Eric Nkansah, director-general of GES, and Father Owusu Sekyere, headmaster of Opoku Ware School, traveled to The Gambia with Ghana’s team.
In addition to being honored, the team represented St. James Seminary at the 2022 National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ). In the quarterfinals, Alex and Eyram defeated GHANASS and Kumasi Sec Tech with an astounding 44 points.
After their success in the 2022 WASSCE, Alex Opoku Manu is studying medicine at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Benjamin Eyram Degbey is also studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Academic City.
