Twitter has finally added automated video captioning
Twitter desktop users will be able to turn off auto-captions.
Automatic captioning for videos is now available on Twitter.
On Wednesday, December 15, the much-anticipated capability began rolling out internationally for iOS, Android, and the Web.
Currently, 37 languages are supported by the auto-captions function.
Because the translation is not yet available on Twitter, the subtitles will appear in the language of the device used to post the video in the first place.
On both iOS and Android, auto subtitles will show on muted videos.
Desktop users, on the other hand, have the ability to turn them on and off. Hearing-impaired users may now view videos on Twitter with auto-captions enabled, allowing them to interact with more people on the network.
On December 15, the Twitter Support staff posted about the latest update.
The disclosure comes only a week after Twitter began testing a vertical newsfeed akin to TikTok called “Explore.”
Twitter believes the functionality would assist users in discovering “the greatest trending content.” For the time being, the new Explore tab is only available in a few countries for users who use Twitter in English.
Twitter’s voice tweets were the first to have caption support.
Twitter has finally added automated video captioning
While voice tweets were introduced last year, captions were added to the product just in July of this year.
Earlier this year, Twitter’s Clubhouse competitor Spaces included live captioning.
The business announced that automated video subtitles will be accessible to all customers starting today on Android, iOS, and the web. As previously stated, the new feature allows Twitter users to see subtitles emerge automatically when watching a muted video on mobile.
Twitter’s auto-captions are presently accessible in over 30 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, English, German, Hindi, Tamil, and many others.
Twitter reports that auto-captions will now appear on muted videos on iOS and Android and that you may read the auto-captions text after turning off your device’s sound by tapping the CC button on the desktop.
Recently, the social media business made a number of notable adjustments to its platform and Twitter Spaces.
With the release of Twitter Card previews for Android, iOS, and the Web, it has collaborated with Instagram to make cross-posting easier.
Twitter has also implemented a new privacy-related function that allows users to unfollow a following without banning them.
When a Twitter user unfollows someone, the individual’s tweets will no longer display in their timeline. The Web version is presently accessible.
