The Ghanaian camp has fired Thomas Partey.
Thomas Partey, an Arsenal midfielder, has been sacked from the Ghana squad after failing to show up for training ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Morocco.
The 27-year-old was sacked from camp by Black Stars coach “CK” Akonnor after he turned up for training two days before the team’s departure for Rabat.
The public has been startled by Partey’s attitude, which calls into doubt his commitment and leadership role in the team.
Akonnor has used the disciplinary axe on the former Atletico Madrid midfielder, removing him from the team for the international friendly against the Atlas Lions in Rabat on Tuesday.
Despite coming in Ghana for the holidays, Partey was reluctant to join the Ghana camp, according to http://GHANAsoccernet.com.
As the team prepares for the twin friendly matches against Morocco and Ivory Coast, Partey has been hesitant to join the rest of his teammates.
After Al-Fayha star Samuel Owusu joined the squad hours after arriving in the West African nation, several players of the squad have joined.
It’s also striking that several worldwide top performers have joined their respective national team camps after successful campaigns in Europe.
Despite having relatively good seasons in England, Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mo Salah have joined the Senegal and Egypt squads, respectively.
However, the Ghana vice-captain has yet to make an appearance, having only shown up in Cape Coast despite fears of being cut from the squad.
Captain Andre Ayew, who was given some time off due to his participation in the English Championship play-offs, will travel with the rest of the team.
On June 8, the four-time African Champions will face Morocco in Rabat before taking on Ivory Coast at the Cape Coast Stadium on June 12.
