Thibaut Courtois Expresses His Love: After Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory against Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday night, Thibaut Courtois expressed his admiration for Chelsea FC.
On the night, as he has all season, the Belgian goalkeeper was crucial to his team, making spectacular saves against strikes from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Chelsea purchased Courtois for a reputed £8 million in 2011 and lasted with the club for seven years. However, he spent his first three years on loan with Atletico Madrid.
Courtois shared his true feelings about Chelsea FC after his team’s Champions League final victory over the weekend.
“Obviously, I supported Chelsea in the (Champions League) final last year, and they won,” he told Carrie Brown TV. “This year, I’m hoping they cheered us on and we won.”
I hope they are aware of the choice (to leave). We’ve discussed it extensively; there are no ill sentiments toward Chelsea; I admire the club, but I adore my children.
“Everything came together to go to Real Madrid and Real Madrid has been a dream club for me since I was a little kid, so it’s like a full circle now to win a Champions League with Real Madrid.”
Real Madrid beat Chelsea along their way to the competition final thanks to a late equalizer from Rodrygo before Karim Benzema went on to knock out the former champions.
