The GES Has Set A Timetable For Basic Schools To Reopen.
Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has announced that all public basic schools in the country would reopen on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
The schools were set to resume on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, but had to be postponed until January 18, 2022, according to him.
He explained that the extra week is intended to recompense teachers and students for missing a week of vacation last year owing to the National Standardised Test (NST), which was administered on December 17, 2021.
The GES is working on the academic calendar and the reopening date for freshmen and continuing students for Senior High Schools, according to Prof. Opoku-Amankwa.

He also stated that the Ministry of Education’s Ministerial Committee on Schools Calendar has presented its white paper to the Minister of Education.
Mr. John Ntim Fordjour, a Deputy Minister of Education, chairs the school calendar committee, which includes officials from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), GES, and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service.
From 2022 through 2024, the school calendar will include dates for all public school events, such as reopening, vacations, and exams.
It is planned to be a complete calendar that would solve issues with school activity dates and timetables while also providing relief to parents and children.
