The 1st Domestic Flight Arrives at Ho Airport. The first flight from Passion Air to Ho took place on December 1, 2021. The airliner flies within the United States. The first domestic flight has arrived at Ghana’s Ho Airport in the Volta Region.
The development comes after an airliner, Passion Air, landed in the Volta Regional capital on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, ahead of the start of domestic flight operations on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Onboard the inaugural flight,
Samuel Razak Tachie, Sales and Marketing Manager of Passion Air, called the achievement a watershed moment for commercial activity in that region of the country.
“We want to connect every city in Ghana in the medium to long term as long as there is an airport there,” he added. “We are conducting our inaugural flight to Ho because we feel the city has the potential to promote tourism and investment prospects.”
“We also want to provide travelers with an alternative to traditional road travel because we know that some individuals prefer to drive anyway, while others prefer to fly, and time is of the utmost in this day and age,” he added.
Former Ghana Airports Company Limited Managing Director Charles Asare, speaking during the Ho Airport’s opening ceremony, praised the facility’s establishment as a major benefit for business and tourism.
“I am certain that, with the commencement of such commercial flights and domestic operations, Ghana will emerge as the best aviation hub in the ECOWAS sub-region”, he said.

The Avafiaga of Ho, Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu XIl, has requested that the government, particularly the aviation authority, build a flight school and aircraft maintenance center at the Ho Airport.
Asare hopes that this, in addition to regular domestic activities, will provide employment, knowledge, and technical skills for the region’s youth. “I’d like to see the government create a flight school and an aircraft repair facility at Ho Airport.
This will considerably increase local content both within and outside of the region’s aviation hub “The Chief insisted. ECOWAS is on the verge of becoming the best aviation hub in the region.
Divine Bosson, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ho, also appealed to the Ghana Airports Company Limited to provide work opportunities in and around the airport for the teeming youth of Ho.
“Ho is a beautiful and clean city, and we feel that the development of this airport would provide a tremendous chance for the city’s children who are hungry.
We shall make a case to the Ghana Airport Company Limited that some of the jobs offered to people traveling from Accra to Ho be reassessed and made available to Ho’s youth so that they can earn a living as well “According to the MCE.
