OSP detained Cecilia Dapaah: Former Sanitation and Water Resources Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The arrest relates to alleged thefts of huge sums of cash and other expensive goods from her home as well as suspected corruption and offenses associated with corruption.
According to a press release from the OSP, she was arrested at 11:55 GMT on July 24, 2023, and is currently being questioned by authorized OSP officers.
OSP detained Cecilia Dapaah: Her resignation
Just before this, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, Mrs. Dapaah submitted her resignation as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources.
She informed the President of her resignation in a letter addressed to him, stating: “I write to inform you that I intend to resign from my position as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources”.
“It has been a great privilege and honor for me to have been given the opportunity to serve in your government, and an even greater honor to have worked to try and bring your great vision for our country to fruition”………
She went on to explain, “I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time”.
The resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah as minister of sanitation and water resources and government member was subsequently accepted by the President.
Cecilia Dapaah’s commitment to upholding the good name and reputation of his administration was praised by President Akufo-Addo, who also complimented her for her unwavering support of the nation’s advancement and her contribution to it.
