NTC Indexing Number: Ensuring a smooth process for candidates to sit for the Ghana teacher licensure examination, the National Teaching Council (NTC) has introduced a new requirement mandating candidates to obtain an NTC indexing number before purchasing the GTLE voucher.
In this post, we will guide you on how to acquire the indexing number.
A New Requirement for Aspiring Professional Teachers
As part of its efforts to regulate the teaching profession effectively, the NTC is currently indexing all teachers in the country. This indexing process involves collecting the details of students from Colleges of Education and universities to generate specific codes that grant easy access to the NTC’s online resources.
According to a recent blog post by the NTC, individuals aspiring to be licensed as professional teachers must possess at least a degree qualification.
How to Obtain Your NTC Indexing Number
To obtain the indexing number, candidates need to follow a simple procedure. Upon indexing, the NTC will send SMS messages to the mobile numbers provided by trainees through their respective Colleges of Education. These messages will contain the candidate’s Name, Code, and a link to the NTC Indexing website.
- Dial *772*51# and pay an amount of GH¢50 as an indexing fee. Alternatively, candidates can make payment for the Indexing number at any Prudential Bank Branch nationwide.
- After payment has been made successfully, you will receive an SMS that contains your indexing number. If you failed to receive the SMS, you can use the transaction number indicated on your payment receipt.
- Visit https://indexing.ntc.gov.gh to verify and update your details. The NTC indexing number is to be kept safe since it will be used for GTLE registration.
It is crucial for candidates planning to sit for the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) to ensure they have their NTC indexing numbers in place. Failure to obtain the indexing number will result in disqualification from taking the licensure examination.
How much is the indexing fee?
The NTC has also announced the implementation of an indexing fee of 50 Ghana cedis per student, as approved by Parliament under fees and charges. This fee is essential to cover the expenses associated with the indexing process and maintain the quality of services provided by the NTC.
Contacting College Authorities for Assistance
In the event that a candidate does not receive the SMS containing the indexing details or faces difficulties making payment at the bank, the NTC advises reaching out to their respective college authorities. College authorities can verify whether the candidate’s information has been successfully sent to the NTC and provide further guidance on resolving any issues.
Becoming a Licensed Professional Educator in Ghana
In conclusion, obtaining an NTC indexing number is now a prerequisite for sitting the Ghana teacher licensure examination. Aspiring teachers should ensure they fulfill this requirement and pay the indexing fee as part of their journey toward becoming licensed professional educators in Ghana.
