NDC to resume nominations: The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will begin accepting nominations In 18 constituencies where elections were postponed due to various disagreements that have since been addressed.
The party had to postpone elections in the 18 constituencies, however, on May 13, 2023, it conducted the final phase of its nationwide internal elections to choose the party’s presidential candidate and parliamentary candidates for the general election of 2024.
The reopening of nominations in these regions will start on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, according to temporary NDC Director of Elections Daniel Amartey Mensah.
He described how, in particularly affected areas, nominations were accepted however the elections were not held, while in other areas, no nominations were accepted at all.
Breakdown
Providing a summary by region, he indicated that a total of 18 constituencies were affected, including four in the Ashanti Region, two in Central, one in Western North, five in Eastern, two in Greater Accra, three in Western, as well as one in Ahafo.
Prior to different events forcing the suspension of voting in the 18 constituencies, the party had scheduled parliamentary elections in 276 constituencies, along with the Santrokofi-Akpafu-Lolobi-Likpe (SALL) district.
According to him, the party will soon have a full slate of parliamentary contenders for the general elections in 2024 if the elections in the 18 constituencies are successful.
