Motor rider explains his version of the Apeatse Explosion.
Philip Mensah, the young man whose motorbike is suspected of colliding with an explosives-laden truck in Apeatse on Thursday, has described how his vehicle may have been involved in the tragedy.
He claims he was hit from behind by a vehicle while biking from Nhyireso to Bogoso. This occurred as a result of the vehicle in front of him abruptly stopping, compelling him to do the same.
Maxwell Agbagba, in an interview with JoyNews on Sunday, stated that he had never seen the truck that detonated.
“I was hit from behind by a car. I only heard a bang. So I slipped and slid for a bit on the coal tar.
During this time, I noticed my motorcycle sliding down the road. Because the automobile that hit me came from behind, I didn’t see it.”
I was rushed to the Aseda Hospital by a cab driver and a welder. When we heard the blast, I was in the hospital undergoing treatment. Everyone, including myself, bolted.
Later, I witnessed a large number of casualties being carried in. “The nurses even left me to attend to the accident’s critically injured victims,” he recalled.

“I was not on the scene of the accident that caused the explosion,” he stated, emphasizing that the doctors and nurses at Aseda hospital would be able to certify that he was receiving treatment when the explosion occurred.
Philip Mensah, who was at the scene of the collision with police investigators as part of the inquiry, expressed regret that such a serious tragedy had occurred, saying, “I feel horrible.” I am sad because we are all human.
My issue is that different people are stating various things. Some claimed I collided with the explosive-laden vehicle, while others claimed I was burned, and so on.”
On Thursday, January 20, an explosion in Apeatse, between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region, destroyed about 500 houses.
So far, fourteen people have perished and several others have been injured.
Mr. Seji Saji Amedonu, the Deputy Director-General of NADMO, said on Sunday’s episode of The Probe that the overall number of displaced persons is 954.
