Kwesi Nyantakyi is essential for Ghana’s football team to succeed.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a prominent Ghanaian politician, has stated that football in the nation will continue to struggle and degrade without Kwesi Nyantakyi’s involvement.
After an exposé broadcast by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in 2018, Mr Nyantakyi, the longest-serving president of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], was barred from all football-related activities.

Despite his suspension, Mr Nyantakyi is considered as one of the country’s top football minds, and is best known for leading Ghana to its first World Cup berth in 2006 in Germany.
On Monday, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on why football in the country has fallen, claimed football in the West African country can only prosper if Mr Nyantakyi returns to the game.
“I am surprised that Ghanaians are appreciating Kwesi Nyantakyi today,” he stated.
“This is a man who was humiliated and embarrassed, and now he is being praised by the same people.
“They went with Anas Aremeyaw Anas over Kwesi Nyantakyi, and the effects are now visible.
“Without Kwesi Nyantakyi, Ghanaian football would continue to deteriorate,” he continued.
Kwesi Nyantakyi guided the Black Stars to World Cup victories in 2010 and 2014 in South Africa and Brazil, respectively.
