KNUST Students Allegedly Rape Level 100 Student: Six Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) students have been detained for the alleged rape of a first-year student.
The six were accused in front of Asokore Mampong District Court on Wednesday, August 3.
They were all arrested by the police. According to their lawyer Richard Adu Darko, the students are deemed innocent until and unless found guilty by a court of competent authority.

“These are students of KNUST who have been accused of rape,” he told TV3‘s Ibrahim Abubakar after hearing.
“Looking at the fact which has been presented to us, honestly we don’t see rape but that’s what they have been accused of and once someone is accused, the law says the person is innocent until proven guilty or the person pleads otherwise.
“So, now until they plead that they are guilty or a court of competent jurisdiction finds them guilty, they are innocent. At this material moment, this is a court of the first instance and they have been brought here for purposes of remanding them into lawful custody.”
In order to allow the six students to attend their end-of-semester examinations, their attorney, Adu Darko, said he will submit a bail application on their behalf in the “proper venue.”
The hearing was moved forward to Wednesday, August 17.
