Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan said this about N’Golo Kante.: N’Golo Kante has been dubbed “one of the most difficult opponents I’ve ever faced” by Jack Grealish, and he is not alone.
Grealish’s remarks come only months after Manchester City teammate Ilkay Gundogan made similar remarks about Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Since joining Chelsea for £32 million from Leicester City in 2016, the 31-year-old midfielder has won six major awards with the Blues. He has demonstrated his world-class talents during his tenure in the Premier League.
Kante is one of the most active midfielders in the world, and when he’s on form, as Chelsea fans saw in their Champions League final victory over Manchester City last season, he’s nearly unplayable. Kante has now been named by Grealish as one of the most difficult opponents he has faced in professional football.
Grealish, speaking to BBC Football, said: “I’m going to go with N’Golo Kante for number three. He does not come to a halt. You believe you have time for him, that you’re away from him, yet he’s always there. He’s all over the place.”
Grealish got the nail on the head when he said that Kante never stops sprinting. Everyone knows this, including Gundogan, who said something similar to his Man City teammate last year.
“If I had to compare positionally, someone who plays in midfield, certainly someone like N’Golo Kante,” the German added. It’s simply that you know you’ve passed him and you’re convinced he won’t return.
