“On the day the march was scheduled to take place in Kumasi, people began making reservations. Normally, the GFA officials are our clients.
They were the first to make a reservation at Ceeta-Kel Hospital. Baffour Ampadu Kyere, General Manager of Ceeta–Kel Hotel, stated, “This hotel is totally booked.”
Tourism products and services in Kumasi are frequently driven by international and football tournaments.
Players in the tourist industry want events like the soccer competition to be held on a regular basis.
David Onyinah is the Regional Chairman of the Ghana Tourism Federation and was previously the Chairman of the Hotels Association.
“When visitors come to Kumasi, they would dine in restaurants and cafes. I’ve seen that several classic restaurants (chop bars) are attracting new and international patrons. Clients are flocking to car rentals and business transportation services. “The Greater Kumasi businesses would profit the most,” he stated.
Meanwhile, guests have begun relocating to other hotels outside of Greater Kumasi.
Hoteliers are anticipating a surge in business when major soccer tournaments are held.
“The occupancy was a little low before the football match. However, a large number of fans have traveled to Kumasi for the game on Friday. Hotels in Greater Kumasi, such as the Golden Bean, Golden Tulip, Miklin, and Noda Hotel, are all booked, according to my checks. The other hotels outside of Greater Kumasi, 1 and 2, are still receiving calls. This indicates that individuals are seriously seeking a place to stay,” he explained.
“I was relieved when the match was scheduled to take place in Kumasi,” stated another. It is quite beneficial to us whenever there is a game to be played here. All of the eateries in this area benefit.”
