Boakye Agyarko has declared his desire to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2024 elections.
Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, the former Energy Minister, has stated his intention to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections.
Mr Agyarko feels he is “suited for purpose,” and as a result, he has decided to run for election by the party’s delegates.
“I was a competitor in 2008, one of the 17. I stayed to settle my debts. I feel myself to be suitable for purpose, thus I will not abandon that goal or desire. But, at the end of the day, it is up to the people,” he said.
Mr. Agyarko has been a member of the process since the beginning of the party’s annual regional delegate’s conference.
The former NPP Campaign Manager has already attended three regional conferences, including the Savanah Region, the Upper West, and the Upper East. His participation in the process, according to sources, is intended to energise his base ahead of the key flagbearership election.
The former minister’s announcement joins a growing list of senior members of the party, including Vice President Dr. Bawumia, Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, and Agriculture Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto, who are lining up to follow President Akufo-Addo when his term ends.
