When will the World Cup draw be held in Qatar?
The 2022 World Cup group stage draw will be conducted in a gala ceremony on Friday, April 1 at 12:00 p.m. ET at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Doha, Qatar. The configuration of the eight groups of four teams that will make up the first phase of the World Cup in Qatar will be determined by the draw.

Pots for the Qatar World Cup
As hosts, Qatar will be seeded and given the A1 slot, which means they will play in Group A. The other seven seeded teams will be the top seven FIFA rankings teams.
Pot 2 will be awarded to nations ranked 8-15 in the ranking, while Pot 3 will be assigned to countries ranked 16-23 with the best position. Finally, Pot 4 will consist of the clubs ranked 24-28, as well as the two intercontinental play-off winners and the remaining UEFA play-off winner (Wales vs. the winner of the Scotland-Ukraine).

Qatar 2022: World Cup draw format and schedule
The Qatar World Cup, which will continue to include 32 countries, will follow the traditional structure of eight groups of four teams playing three round-robin, one-legged matches. Each group’s top two finishers will proceed to the round of 16, where they will compete in the following format: A vs B, C versus D, E versus F, and G versus H.
Unlike the European Championship, the World Cup has an extra match, the third and fourth place match, played the day before the final by the two teams that lost in the semifinals.
