Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down.
All of the services’ websites and applications were responding with server failures. The outages appear to be widespread, according to reports on DownDetector.com, although it’s unclear if they affect all users or just some. The cause of the outage is unknown at this time.
Shortly before noon ET, all three platforms went down.
“We’re aware that certain of our applications and products aren’t working for some users,” a spokesman stated. “We’re working hard to bring everything back to normal as soon as possible, and we regret for any difficulty this may have caused.”
A similar outage occurred in 2019 and lasted roughly an hour. A technical issue, according to Facebook, triggered the outage. When content delivery networks, or CDNs, go down, major websites might also fall down. That happened in June, when Fastly, one of these CDNs, went down owing to technical difficulties. Amazon, Reddit, and The New York Times were among the big websites that went down as a result of this.
