Chelsea complete The Double as they beat Man City: After defeating Manchester City 3-2 in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea achieved a remarkable double.
Sam Kerr’s deflected goal in extra time, her second of the game, was enough to win at Wembley Stadium. When City’s replacement Hayley Raso equalized in the 89th minute, it took an extra 30 minutes, but it merely delayed the Blues.
With a magnificent second-half shot, Erin Cuthbert felt she’d won the game for Chelsea. The goal came after a thrilling first half in which Chelsea’s Kerr and City’s Lauren Hemp both scored.
Sam Kerr is the hero once more
Kerr has saved Chelsea on a few occasions recently.
The 28-year-old scored twice against Manchester United last weekend to help Chelsea win their third consecutive Women’s Super League title.

And today, the striker rose to the occasion once more. While her second goal was undoubtedly fortuitous, Chelsea and Kerr seem unconcerned.
The attacker scored 29 goals in all competitions this season, which is impressive considering he was labeled a bust following his debut half-season in England two years ago.
Erin Cuthbert’s wonder strike
Kerr may have scored two goals, but Erin Cuthbert’s miraculous strike was the most impressive.
The Scot has been a key player for Hayes this season and has shown her skill with a thunderbolt from beyond the area today.
It was a goal that will go down in FA Cup history, and one that Cuthbert will remember for a long time.
Hayes has won another award.
With Chelsea, Hayes has won 12 trophies, including five WSL crowns, four FA Cups, two League Cups, and the 2017 WSL Spring Series.
While Chelsea had to fight hard for this triumph, it clinched another superb domestic double for the Blues and rounded off another outstanding season.
