On Sunday night, the Billboard Music Awards 2021 were held. This year’s version was eventually held in May after being postponed due to the pandemic in October of last year. It was a huge night for a very few who walked away with several trophies.
The Weeknd was the night’s main attraction. With ten awards to his name, including the much-anticipated Top Artist, he had his hands full. He was up for 16 awards and received ten of them. His hit song, Blinding Lights was what bagged him most of the wins.
Apart from The Weeknd, BTS, the world’s most famous boyband, stole the show. The band was nominated in four categories for the first time, and they won all four for Dynamite, including Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist (Fan-Voted), and Top Selling Song. The most anticipated act of the night was BTS’ first-ever appearance of their new single, “Butter.”
Jon Bon Jovi awarded Pink with the Icon Award, which she accepted. Pop Smoke, the late musician, was also honored. Audrey Jackson received the award on his behalf and thanked the crowd.
