Asiedu Nketia charges Ghanaian Youth to ensure that resources for their future are safeguarded.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, is a Ghanaian politician and the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress.
He stressed the importance of the youth in the country’s socioeconomic growth, saying it is their responsibility to keep the older generation accountable since they represent the future.
As a result, he encouraged Ghana’s young to speak out against any development that may jeopardize the country’s future.
THE MARCH ON JULY 6th 2021
On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Mr Nketia made the appeal during a rally organized by the NDC youth wing titled “March for Justice” in Accra. The demonstration was held to demand justice for all those slain or brutalized by the country’s different security services.
“Despite my age, I agree with the country’s youth. I believe it is past time for you to rise up and hold the elder generation accountable since we will soon give it over to you.” he said.
“You must guarantee that we do not give over a nation devoid of resources, a country whose resources have been sold to support people’s families. Because we can’t rely on security services to protect us, make sure you’re not turned over to a nation with an unstable democracy, a country without justice, or a government that encourages war,” he said.
Concluding Words
Mr. Johnson also encouraged Ghanaians who are turning deaf ears to the country’s problems to become active since they will be affected in the long run.
The march, according to the NDC’s National Youth Organiser, George Opare Addo, is to call on the government to address the country’s issues.
“We plan to demonstrate and express our concerns about current events in our country to this government. The march will be quite calm. We’re marching to demand justice for our slain brothers and sisters, as well as to push the government to fix the nation and generate adequate employment for young people. We want to end the culture of silence and address the country’s insecurity.”
A petition was sent to the president and the leadership of parliament by the organization.
