Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea Departure Finalised? According to rumors, Antonio Rudiger’s exit from Chelsea is poised to be finalized soon as he approaches a transfer to Real Madrid.
When his contract with the Blues ends at the end of the season, the German center-back is planning to depart.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel announced the news last week, and the club must now prepare for life without Rudiger next season.
Rudiger’s deal with La Liga giants Real Madrid will be finalized shortly, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After five seasons at Chelsea since his transfer from Roma in the summer of 2017, he will join the Spanish team on a four-year agreement.
Rudiger was linked with a number of clubs in January since he was free to speak to other clubs following the expiration of his contract in June, with Madrid now being his preferred destination.
As he prepares for his farewell games in blue, the German international has made 198 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 12 goals and giving seven assists.
Last week, Tuchel expressed his feelings about the defender’s impending exit from the reigning World and European Champions, saying, “I don’t think everyone likes it.” In our one-and-a-half seasons together, he has played a significant role.
“He gives confidence in the dressing room, is a great character, and a leader. He is available for 90% of the matches and plays on an outstanding level and gives confidence if you play next to him, around him. He takes sometimes the focus towards himself, away from others, and takes and loves responsibility.
“I don’t think anybody likes this decision. We have to accept it and will accept it. Like it or not, there will be life at Chelsea after Toni. For him and for us it is the most important thing to end like it started and has been, on the highest level. This is where the focus needs to be.”
