Akufo-Addo to meet Pfizer in Germany for establishment of Vaccine Institute in Ghana
President Nana Akufo-Addo will meet with Pfizer-BioNTech, a worldwide vaccine maker, to explore the creation of a Vaccine Institute in Ghana.
The discussion, which will take place in Germany this week on the margins of the President’s official business visit to the European country, will also look at the logistics of procuring additional of that manufacturer’s vaccine for Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
On the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the President departed Ghana on Sunday for Germany.
Mr Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, told the Presidential Press Corp during the first edition of the Jubilee House Weekly Press Briefing that the President’s journey to Germany will include a meeting with the vaccine producer.
During his visit, the President is scheduled to conduct further meetings with his German counterpart in order to strengthen Ghana’s economic and political ties with Germany.
He will take part in the German Chancellor’s G20 Compact Initiative Program to boost investments in African nations, including Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo is also slated to give an address at the North Rhine–Westphalia state’s 75th anniversary celebration.
As the guest of honor, he will speak during a ceremony at the North-Rhine Westphalia Academy of International Politics in Bonn.
He’ll meet with German business leaders to promote Ghana’s investment possibilities.
