As a result of the court’s decision, Akuapem Poloo will serve 82 days in prison.
Rosemond Brown alias Akuapem Poloo, a socialite, has been ordered to serve her remaining 82 days in prison by the Criminal Court 1 Division of the High Court.
On Wednesday, December 1, the court dismissed an appeal submitted by the actress’s counsel.
Akuapem Poloo will serve 82 days
In June 2020, an Accra Circuit Court sentenced Akuapem Poloo to 90 days in prison for disseminating obscene content and breaching the dignity and integrity of her seven-year-old son in a nude photo she shared on social media.
Her attorneys contested the decision, claiming it was overly punitive, despite the fact that she had completed a portion of her sentence.
She was then given a bond of ¢80,000 pending the outcome of the appeal.
On Wednesday, the Court, presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeety, deemed her appeal to be without merit and ordered her to return to jail to serve the remainder of her 90-day sentence.
The court further ordered that her son be delivered to any family member who is capable of caring for him while his mother serves her term at Nsawam Prison.
