A HERO’S INSOMNIA
Alone in the dark and rid of sleep
How can it be free but not cheap?
Everybody does it so easily, I had to be the black sheep.
While everybody does it so breezily, I am the one to lack sleep.
When they’re in trouble, that’s when they can’t sleep
Enwrapped in my bubble, as their thoughts run deep
Soon they burst the bubble, when they find a solution to their upkeep
I also want to struggle to wake up when I hear the alarm beep
Sorry body, rest is a promise I can’t keep
Each night I go into my bed to try
I lay down hoping for the anticipated visit of sleep
Only to watch till morning light brightens the sky
Tired, stressed, confused, not drugged but high
Twisting and turning in this bed I lie
Till morning comes with dark circles around my eye
The concerned few may come questioning why
I am a hero, Zorro keeping watch as you all briefly die
